Things to Do – Sport Fishing in San Diego

RV owners are always looking for exciting things to while visiting a particular location. Things to Do – The San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl

Qualcomm Stadium plays host to the Poinsettia Bowl in late December where a Mountain West Conference team will play an at-large opponent. The at-large opponent may be the Army Black Knights as bowl officials reached an accord guaranteeing the Black Knights an appearance at the bowl if they’re bowl game eligible.

Things to Do – Visit the Haunted Whaley House

With the Halloween holiday approaching, discussions of ghosts, ghouls, goblins, and the supernatural become commonplace. While there are many haunted house scattered around the U.S., San Diego has one that has been recognized as one of the most haunted houses in America.

The Whaley House isn’t the run of the mill haunted house that appears this time of year where costumed actors scare visitors, but rather the one where unexplained things happen. People experience extreme differences in temperature; people see things; visitors have a feeling of being watched, etc. They even have a photo album of ghostly photographs people have taken while visiting the museum.

Ghost hunters and psychics alike have experienced paranormal activities. In addition, average people have witnessed things they can’t explain.

During October, the Whaley House will be open at night offering visitors an opportunity to experience the historic home, but maybe even have a ghostly encounter of their own.

Things to Do – Take Flight at Torrey Pines

For those of you looking for a little adventure, be sure to visit the Torrey Pines Glider Port located in La Jolla, CA. The port, which is perched above the Pacific Ocean, offers ample opportunities for thrillseekers to paraglide or hang glide along the cliffs adjacent to the Pacific. The ocean breezes provide the lift allowing the gliders to remain in the air for extended periods of time.

The Torrey Pines Glider Port is the largest paragliding training facility in the U.S. and is recognized for providing

first class service in flight education, flight training, quality equipment sales, and some of the most consistent soaring conditions in California. Torrey Pines Gliderport is recognized as a world class soaring site and has been in continuous use for flight operations, since 1928.

Things to Do – Water Recreation at Lake Murray

For those of you who stay at one of our San Diego County Resorts, you’re in close proximity to many area lakes for water recreation including fishing and boating. One of those lakes is Lake Murray which is located in Central San Diego County along the Interstate 8 corridor.

The San Diego Convention and Visitor’s Bureau has this to say about the lake:

Located within Mission Trails Regional Park, scenic Lake Murray’s fishing season runs December through September. Guests can hook a Florida-strain largemouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish, black crappie, and trout (trout is stocked in the lake from November through May). The minimum size for bass is 12 inches; catch limits are five for trout, bass and catfish, and 25 for crappie. Rowboats, motorboats, pedal boats, and canoes are available for rent hourly or daily for fishing and recreational boating; float tubes are allowed within 150 ft. or less from the shore. Private boaters can enjoy a new 2-lane launch ramp and dock; however, personal watercrafts (jetskis) are not allowed on Lake Murray.

The Fall Back festival brings the history and culture of the Gaslamp Quarter and Old San Diego alive for children and families. Features entertainment, demonstrations and food. Taking place Sunday, October 29, 2006 from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., on Island Avenue between 4th & 5th Avenues, downtown San Diego.
