In addition to being California’s second largest city and having picturesque views, one of the hallmarks of San Diego is the many attractions that it offers and the convenience of reaching each. One such attraction is the San Diego Zoo. The Zoo is located just minutes from Downtown in historic Balboa Park.
Through early September, the San Diego Zoo is open until 9 p.m. so visitors can experience the “Nighttime Zoo,” an opportunity to see nocturnal animals come alive at night.
Be sure to take the narrated bus tour which will allow you to explore more of the Zoo. The San Diego Zoo’s Web site outlines the service:
Enjoy a 35-minute tour on a double-decked bus covering about 75 percent of the San Diego Zoo. Your bus tour ticket also includes use of the Express Bus, double- or single-decked buses with green signs on the sides that allow guests to hop on and off at five different stops throughout the Zoo. The Express buses pass by the stops every 20 minutes or less and are for quick transportation around the Zoo.
For those of you making plans to visit the San Diego area in October, the San Diego Zoo is going to have “Children’s Month at the San Diego Zoo,” where children ages 11 and under are admitted to the Zoo for free during the month.
And for the parents, our Southern California Resorts sell discounted tickets to the Zoo.
